Mostaco.PH is getting some attention from our customers. Some of our customers are asking about the website. They are asking if we commissioned somebody to build it for us. A lot of them are surprised when we tell them that the website was proudly built and managed in house. Is building a company website worth it?
Building a Company Website
Building a company website is no easy task. A lot of companies think that building a website is an expense that wouldn’t generate any revenue. Seeing how fast technology has evolved during the past years, it is important that a company has an online presence. Nowadays, customers will look for suppliers online and we need to grab their attention so they can inquire about our products.
From Wix to WordPress
Mostaco.PH started as a Wix site. We moved out of Wix after a month because it sucks. We had to start again from scratch and re-do all our content. We decided on WordPress as our CMS platform. WordPress is the leading content management system in the planet. It’s free and there are tons of plug ins to enhance WordPress features.
We registered Mostaco.PH through GoDaddy. We downloaded MAMP to build our website offline. We signed up for Elegant Themes so we can use their Divi theme. The game changer was WooCommerce. Mostaco.PH would be among the first, if not the first, thermal paper and office supplies distributor to have an eCommerce page. Clients can go to our Mostaco Shop and order their products online.
After about a month, we launched it with GoDaddy as our web host. To generate some traffic, we signed up for Google Adwords. After a few days, inquiries started to trickle and we got some promising leads through our contact form. Some customers went straight tor our shop page and ordered online.
From GoDaddy Shared Linux to Kinsta Managed WordPress
To close more deals, we revamped Mostaco.PH and made it more appealing by using flat colors and flat icons. We also ditched our GoDaddy shared Linux hosting and signed up with Kinsta managed WordPress hosting. Kinsta managed WordPress hosting is more expensive but it is leaps and bounds better than the GoDaddy shared Linux hosting. Load times and speed are faster. Clients would no longer wait for a long time for the page to load since our pages load almost instantly.
Needless to say, building Mostaco.PH was a worthy investment. During the first year of running Mostaco.PH, we closed deals with 40+ customers. Mostaco.PH has generated profit for us since almost 70% of the 40+ customers we signed through the website are still current customers. We are getting 15 to 20 inquiries per day through our contact form about our products. We get an additional 10 to 15 calls per day from customers who need quotations immediately and don’t want to fill out the form.
The next challenge for us is to close more than the 40+ we closed during our first year operating Mostaco.PH. We need to get higher rankings for our keywords so prospective customers can search for us faster. SEO is not our cup of tea but we can learn it so Mostaco.PH would appear number one on Google searches.
