Update: We no longer use Pipedrive as our CRM. For that matter, we no longer use a CRM. It wasn’t an issue with Pipedrive but we had to cancel our subscription since using a CRM system was becoming more of a burden for our agents.
During the first year of our business, we relied on logbooks for our lead generation and sales pipeline. As our small sales team grew to 4, we needed more than logbooks. We searched and tried a dozen CRM systems until we decided on Pipedrive.
Finding the right CRM system was crucial for us. We are a B2B business and following up on leads and managing our sales pipeline is very important. We relied on logbooks for all our leads and sales generation and it is becoming cumbersome. We needed a CRM system.
Searching for the right CRM
We set a budget of $25 per user so Salesforce was out of the question. We set our sights on Zoho CRM since it has the complete sales process for our business. Zoho CRM has a sales pipeline, has a quotation and sales order system and has automated workflows. We tried Zoho CRM for a week but found out that the quotation and sales order module is very lacking. Yes, we can send direct quotations to our leads but it is a pain to edit it to fit our needs. We have HTML knowledge but Zoho CRM’s quotation templates are really a pain to handle. Also, Zoho CRM’s interface is not that good and you have to move to different tabs to manage your leads and sales pipeline. We gave up after one week.
We also tried Hubspot, Insightly, VTiger, Agile CRM, etc. We found their systems loaded with lots of information on their respective dashboards that might overwhelm our sales agents. Sales agents need to sell and not get lost in the CRM system. After a lot of searching, we found Pipedrive.
Pipedrive is a simple sales pipeline CRM that fits our needs. You have your sales pipeline immediately when you open your Pipedrive. Our sales agents would know the leads they have for follow up, leads they need to send quotes and leads that have promised to order. It’s a really simple system that helps our sales agents get through their day to day activities. It is not as robust as other CRM systems but our sales agents are focused on the leads they have on their pipeline and excited to move them to the next stage.
After one month of using Pipedrive, our sales revenue increased by 42%. For May, our sales revenue increased 57% compared to April. For this month, we are on track to exceed our sales goals. The increase in sales revenue cannot be attributed to Pipedrive alone but our agents are now making more follow ups than ever before.
Pipedrive is not perfect – one of my sales agents always have duplicate organizations or contacts since Pipedrive will not warn that there is an organization or contact already existing. Also, you cannot send email from Pipedrive but I heard that they are overhauling their mail system to include that.
We are happy with Pipedrive for the past 4 months we have been using it. For our quotations and sales order, we use Zoho Books and compared to Zoho CRM, Zoho Books is way more appealing than Zoho CRM. Yes, we have a fragmented system and we should be using an ERP system but this works for us. As Pipedrive would tell us, happy closing!
